This natural Canadian corundum cabochon was hand cut and polished from rough mined in the Revelstoke region of British Columbia by the late prospector and friend, Herb Hyder. Herb was well known among Canadian rockhounds and mineral collectors for discovering and producing exceptional corundum from this region.
The gemstone displays a rich magenta to violet-purple colour with natural internal characteristics and fractures that attest to its natural origin. This cabochon has not been treated or stabilized. Polished to a smooth, high-domed finish, this cabochon is well suited for a custom ring, pendant, or collector's display.
