This diamond or rhomb shaped granular corundum cabochon features deep purple-plum to magenta tones, shifting depending on the lighting conditions. Captured within it's host rock, pyrite is an inclusion in this material, giving a purple lapis-like alure. Under UV light, the stone fluoresces vividly, highlighting its ruby-rich zones and the matrix inclusions. A striking and colourful piece suitable for collections or jewellery.
The ruby material originates from Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, where it was ethically and hand-mined by local prospector Edmund Saunders. This cabochon was cut here in Canada.
The stone measures approximately 27.50 x 13.00 x 4.40 mm, and weighs 11.25 CT.
