This beautiful corundum specimen originates from Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, and was hand-dug by local prospector Edmund Saunders. It features a rich red mottled granular red-plum, corundom-sapphire porophyroblasts in a schistose matrix including coarse biotite, pyrite, hematite, and feldspar.
Under ultraviolet light, the specimen glows with a vivid fluorescence, highlighting its ruby-rich zones and enhancing its visual allure. This specimen fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and has a saw flat face which perfectly props the specimen for display purposes, capturing the exceptional beauty of Hopedale corundum.
