This unique corundum cabochon composed of granular sapphire and ruby, originates from Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada and was found by a local prospector, Edmund Saunders. It has been shaped into an elegant freeform long drop shaped cabochon measuring 30.0 mm long, 9.0 mm wide, and 5.0 mm thick, with a total weight of 12.05 carats.
There is a small area of plucking along the bezel that would be easily covered with a bezel style setting. Regardless this stone has been discounted.
The stone fluoresces vividly under UV light.
