This oval granular corundum cabochon from Canada features deep purple-plum to pink-magenta tones, shifting depending on the lighting conditions. Pyrite is an inclusion in this material, giving a purple lapis-like alure. Under UV light, the stone fluoresces vividly, highlighting its ruby-rich zones and the matrix inclusions. A striking and colourful piece suitable for collections or jewellery.
The ruby material originates from Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, where it was ethically and hand-mined by local prospector Edmund Saunders. This cabochon was cut here in Canada.
The stone measures approximately 17 x 11 x 6 mm, and weighs 11.75 CT.
