This natural corundum (sapphire–ruby) cabochon originates from Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, and was cut from lapidary rough discovered by local prospector Edmund Saunders. Expertly shaped into a striking freeform marquise cabochon, this gemstone displays an attractive blend of purplish ruby and sapphire tones.

The stone measures 24.70 x 11.05 x 5.75 mm, with a total weight of 12.90 carats. Under ultraviolet light, it exhibits a vivid fluorescence, an appealing characteristic of chromium-bearing corundum.

A distinctive Canadian gemstone, this piece is well-suited for collectors, custom jewelry designs, or lapidary enthusiasts seeking a unique, locality-specific specimen.
