Select a Slab of Canadian Corundum-Ruby-Sapphire - Pink Colours

$17.10 $19.00

These unpolished slabs of corundum-bearing rock from Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, feature porophyroblasts and layers of granular corundum-sapphire-ruby ranging in colour from pink to fushia or magenta, with soft undertones of purple to plum. The granular corundum is formed in a nice contrasting dark biotite-rich matrix. They are being sold by weight at around 75 cents CAD per gram.

These pieces make unique collector’s items, although they are not polished, they can be easily oiled or sealed with epoxy to maintain their vivid colours. They could also serve as beautiful lapidary rough for custom cabochons, rock tumbling or carving projects.
