This elegant oval corundum cabochon from Canada features deep purple-red ruby tones with a unique radiating patch or inclusion of host rock minerals. It measures 17 mm long, 11.55 mm wide, and 5.35 mm thick, and weighs 9.60 CT. Under UV light, the stone fluoresces vividly, highlighting its ruby-rich zones and the matrix inclusions. A striking and colourful piece suitable for collections or jewellery.
The ruby material originates from Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, where it was ethically and hand-mined by local prospector Edmund Saunders. This cabochon was cut here in Canada.
