Drop Shaped Canadian Corundum Cabochon

This granular corundum cabochon is a deep reddish purple colour, with fine specks of pyrite. The lapidary rough originates from Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, found by local prospector, Edmund Saunders. The material has been shaped into a freeform, drop-shapped cabochon measuring 20.2 mm tall, 9.4 mm wide, and 4.85 mm thick, with a total weight of 6.85 carats. The stone fluoresces vividly under UV light.

This stone has a natural fracture and has been discounted as a result.
