This corundum-sapphire-ruby cabochon is an beautiful rich purple colour and originates from Hopedale, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The lapidary rough was found by a local prospector, Edmund Saunders. This stone has been shaped into a large freeform marquise shaped cabochon measuring 29 mm tall, 12 mm wide, and 6 mm thick, with a total weight of 15.00 carats. The stone fluoresces vividly under UV light.
